Impact Wrench Maintenance Tips

Water contamination is the great enemy to your prized air impact wrench and other expensive air tools. The common misconception is that if you just drain the air supply tank in your air compressor of excess water, you are protecting your air tool from water damage. While draining your air supply tank is good, you are only preventing rust damage in the tank. The air outlet is generally at the top of the tank and the water in the bottom doesn't make it up there to damage your impact wrench. How then does water get into your air lines and then to your air tool? The answer is condensation. Water condenses and builds up in the air hoses and then travels to your air tool. Also, on a cold winter morning the water that has accumulated in your air lines will freeze and cause even more damage. Frozen water can break loose and damage your tools or even block the air flow in the line. The solution to this problem is install a water filter in your air hose. A good place to put it is midway down your air hose. There it will be out of the way when use your impact wrench under your car and you are trying to get into a tight space. A small investment in a water filter will go a long to prolong the life of your expensive air tools.

Some air tool users try to compensate for water that condenses in air lines by using an air tool oil designed to drive out moisture. Beware of air tool oils that claims to clean, degrease and eradicate water. These types of oils contain isopropyl alcohol or some other solvents. These will destroy or rot out all of the seals and o rings in the air tools. Marvel Mystery Oil and similar products will give a quick fix to gummed up air impact wrench, but the improvement will be short lived. Eventually it will eat the air tool apart and cost you a lot more money in the long run.

Contamination of dirt, grit, sawdust – is the second greatest threat to your air tools. Many contractors diligently clean or change air filters on their air compressors, but still suffer contamination damage to their air tools. Hose couplers are the weak link in the chain. You can have a air compressor delivering clean air and then have a dirty air hose ruin it before it gets to the air tool. Air hoses get dragged through dirt, mud, oily water etc. These contaminants then make into the air hose and then to the tool. By using an air hose reel instead of loose air hoses, you will keep them out of the muck and clean for the next job.

In line oiler Lubrication is critical to extending the life of your valuable air impact wrench and increase productivity. An air tool that has not been properly lubricated will result in low power output. The usual culprit is a dry motor starving for some oil. Your impact wrench is an expensive investment and you must take the time to properly lubricate it. The easiest and quickest way to make surein line oiler it is constantly lubricated is to install an in line oil lubricator. One of these will insure your air tools are receiving oil every time they are used. In line lubricators attach right into the air hose and you fill them with the correct lubricating oil. (see your manufacturer’s specs.). You should also do routine external lubrication through the hammer case grease fitting. A well lubricated air impact wrench will deliver more torque, last longer, run quieter and increase productivity. Don’t forget to add an in line oiler to your next impact wrench or air tool. It will pay for itself several times over.

Import Car Body Kits

Buying import car body kits is easier than ever thanks to the internet. Customizing import cars is moving away from being a hobby toward becoming a big business. Import car body kits can include many things, including spoilers, wings, skirts and air dams. Many kits serve to improve aerodynamics and increase speed, while also making the car look cooler.

There are several factors to consider before making an investment in import car body kits, but first and foremost is the kind of material you want, fiberglass or urethane. Both materials have their advantages. Fiberglass is the preferred type because it usually provides a superior fit and is also easily repaired. Be aware that not all fiberglass import car body kits are created equal; don’t save money by buying low-quality sprayed fiberglass.

Sprayed fiberglass often winds up giving you uneven quality prone to brittle sections that can result in both problems with the fit and breakage. Those who choose the urethane kits prefer it, however, because it is a little tougher and hold up to minor impacts better than fiberglass. This is important because if it does get damaged, it’s almost impossible to repair. Another word of advice: Fiberglass import car body kits are unquestionably the better choice if you plan on a customized paint job.

Import car body kits may sound like a DIY job, but unless you have some experience or are just blessed with natural abilities when it comes to do-it-yourself projects, the actual installation is probably best left to a professional or at least an amateur whose work you have actually seen.

The best way to find someone to install import car body kits is probably to ask someone who already had a body kit installed. Ideally, attending an import car show would probably be your best bet; you’ll likely find not only owners with body kits, but some of the guys who make a living installing them. Unfortunately, not everybody has access to a car show. Next on the list would be hitting the internet.

Import car body kits are always a hot topic of conversation on the import car forums and message boards. The internet is a primary source for information on the import car scene because enthusiasts love to show off their stuff. Take a few hours to look around and you’ll not only find images of the kind of body kit that you want, but also vital information on problems, modification tips and hints, and even the names and phone numbers of qualified installers.

There is one single piece of advice you can expect to get from just about everyone. There is very nearly unanimous agreement anyone getting import car body kits installed should also get it painted at the same time. The reason given for this advice has nothing to do with saving money, or body protection or anything like that; this advice is given to protect the drivers from ridicule. Apparently, it is the ultimate in uncool to drive around in unpainted import car body kits.

Import Car Clubs

Import car clubs are popping up all over the place. Although these clubs have had to fight against their reputation as being nothing more than gangs, the battle seems to be almost over. In fact, import car clubs have moved firmly into the mainstream.

Whether you are looking to join one of these import car clubs, or are looking to advertise one that already exists, the internet is your friend. There seems to be literally thousands of different web sites on which you can list and advertise your club. These clubs are, if nothing else, social networks whereby import car enthusiasts can share their passion with millions of people around the world.

Local chapters of import car clubs may differ significantly, but the one thing they all share in common is a love for the import car subculture. That subculture is about more than just modified cars, however, as a visit to one of these web sites can attest. Checking out the web sites devoted to providing exposure to import car clubs will provide you equal parts opportunity to learn more about cars, music, movies, video games and, of course, girls. The import car scene is particularly concerned with showcasing modified and customized vehicles, but entertainment also plays a part. And why not? Car clubs have been featured in both movies and video games, and one of the key modifications made to many import cars involves boosting the sound system, so music is clearly an integral part. As for the girls, well, a web site devoted to the import car subculture that doesn’t feature clickable links to scantily clad import models really isn’t much of an import web site at all.

Unless, that is, you consider the rise of alternative import car clubs. For instance, a visit to http://Holyrollerz.org takes you to the home page of probably the most recognizable of the Christian import car clubs. In addition to being of the few import car clubs web sites that don’t feature images of sexy models, this club explicitly states that it doesn’t tolerate drinking, racing or profanity. If you wish to experience the fun of import car clubs, but are turned-off by some of the more unacceptable practices, this may be the one for you.

But when it comes down it, all import car clubs are about the car. And it is the worshipping of the vehicle that these sites are really about. In keeping with that interest, you can often find, in addition to images of various cars, homemade videos, tutorials, and even artwork. In fact, if you share your passion for cars with a passion for art, joining a club may be the best way for you to share your creations. Many artists have actually sold their paintings and digital artwork featuring modified import cars.

There are a whole host of different reasons for joining import car clubs. If you don’t know how to get in touch with one your hometown, one of these listing sites can probably help.

Import Car Show

The import car show is just one aspect of the burgeoning subculture that has sprung up around the idea of taking import cars and modifying them for street racing in the United States. The spread of the import car scene can now be felt all across the mainstream from movies such as The Fast and the Furious to video games such as the Need for Speed series.

Although much controversy surrounds every aspect of this subculture, the fact that it is here to stay is probably best exemplified by the growth of the import car show industry. Of course, this growth may have less to do with interest in import cars than with interest in that other topic so near and dear to the hearts of young men.

Go to any import car show, or any web site containing information about an import car show, or pick any magazine about import cars and you will be greeted by the smiling faces and scantily clad bodies of beautiful girls who have come to be known as import models. Import models pose for sexy photos that are found on web sites and in magazines, but they also make personal appearances at import car shows around the world.

The popularity of these girls almost rivals the popularity of the modified cars they are usually photographed posing over. In fact, many of the models who got their start making personal appearances at an import car show now have their own web sites.

Of course, cars and girls have gone together since long before Bruce Springsteen made a career out of singing about their connection to each other. And car magazines have always featured buxom beauties posing on hoods and roofs, so it should hardly be surprising that import car shows continue to make use of attractive young women.

What is different, however, is that where in the past the women who appeared on the covers of car magazines were relatively anonymous and interchangeable, today’s import models have become a prime drawing attraction. In fact, it is not going too far to say that many of the males who attend import car shows are there not to see the latest in car modifications, but their favorite import model. Import car shows have become a showcase for models of the living and non-living types.

The import car shows have become a jumping-off point for a whole new genre of models. And the fascination with these girls doesn’t end when the import car show leaves town. Not only do most of the girls have their official web sites featuring bios, interviews, and, of course, sexy photos, but fan sites dedicated to import car show models have also been popping up over all the internet.

Clearly there is a connection being made between the import car show, the import model and the internet. As these girls become ever more popular, expect to find the import car show becoming an ever more integral part of the import car subculture.

Improving Gas Mileage

There are tips and hidden secrets when it comes to improving the gas mileage of your vehicle. With these changing times and the skyrocketing fuel prices, it seems more important than ever to cut down on gas mileage. The most important piece of advice in these times is to cut down on driving. Unfortunately, the most important piece of advice – and the most obvious – doesn’t seem to impress upon most people because people seem attached to driving, even if it’s just a quick trip to the corner store three blocks away.

If driving less is something that you cannot fathom, you can practice a few other methods to cut down on gas mileage and save some money.

Keep Your Car Working Properly

One of the best ways to ensure that you are getting more bang for your buck in terms of gas mileage is to check your car frequently and make sure that it is working as it should be. Cars that are regularly checked and have regular oil changes usually manage more gas mileage because they are in sharper working order.

Serious maintenance problems that go unchecked, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can cost you lots of money in terms of wasted gas mileage and can impact your vehicle performance overall. Air filters and tire pressure is important too, as having proper air filters can save you up to 10% on your gas mileage and can impact the overall performance of your vehicle. Properly balanced tires with appropriate tire pressure can offer fuel economy benefits up to 3%.

Drive Properly

Driving properly is also an important component when it comes to saving money on gas. Observe the speed limit, as gas mileage actually decreases rapidly at higher speeds (above 60 miles per hour). Not only is observing the speed limit a safer way to drive, it can also save you up to 25% on your overall gas mileage.

Remove any excess weight in your vehicle to avoid putting extra strain on your engine and your fuel consumption. Having extra weight in your vehicle reduces your miles per gallon and, in turn, reducing your overall fuel economy. This weight aspect affects smaller vehicles more than it does larger vehicles.

Avoid idling for long periods of times, like in border line-ups and other places, as this is hard on the engine. Use cruise control and overdrive gears to reduce overall engine wear, too. This will help in saving gas mileage and will also cut down on the standard wear and tear on your vehicle.

Drive Less!

Most people don’t like to hear about this particular way to save gas mileage, as society is largely addicted to their vehicles even for the smallest of trips. Carpooling, taking public transit, and combining trips into one larger trip are all effective and logical ways to reduce the overall gas mileage and save money in the long run. Instead of taking several trips during one day, try to combine all of your trips into one longer trip to save additional starts and stops of your engine. Your vehicle and your pocketbook will thank you!

In A Motor Home Sale

When going to a motor home sale, one is assumed to be there for the purpose of buying -- or considering buying -- a motor home. At a typical motor home sale, one can find motor homes on display, with their owners or manufacturers eager to explain their features, as well as allow people to explore the interior and decide for themselves if that particular model suits their needs. Of course, there have been more than a few things to keep in mind whenever one visits one of these places with the intent of buying a motor home.

Before one even goes to the motor home sale, it is essential that one know why the motor home or rv is being purchased. Or rather, where and how one intends to use the rv in the first place. Some units are better suited for camping out in the woods, while others have systems and parts that make them ideal fo dry, desert conditions. Any prospective buyer should take their time to do research on what type of rv would best suit the purpose they have in mind. The truth is that regardless of their appearance, some units that were designed with dry, desert driving in mind are not well-suited for long trips through more moist climates or short trips to Miami beach. Without consideration of the rv unit's purpose, an owner could end up digging deep into his pockets with regards to maintenance.

Another consideration to be kept in mind by one in a motor home sale would be the features they want in their rv. Would a kitchen be necessary because of long trips? Would some sort of refrigerator be needed? Are cable TV and internet access things that can be done away with, or would they be essential for whatever purpose? Would the trip require a large water supply and, if so, would those involved in the trip be willing to sacrifice space and comfort in exchange for that increased water supply? These are only several questions that have to be asked before one even begins to think about buying an rv. Answers to such inquiries will inevitably help a prospective motor home buyer in finding the correct one to suit his purposes and needs. It would also be a good idea to bring the list of features one wants after answering the questions to the sale, just to make sure one remembers exactly what he wants and needs.

Finally, as with any other purchase, a person who goes to a motor home sale with the intent of buying must be willing to negotiate. Dealers, sellers, and the like will all be present there, to try and talk a prospective buyer out of his or her money. The buyer, naturally, will have the job of trying to hold on to as much of his or her money as possible but still get the rv. Bargaining skills, in a motor home sale or otherwise, are needed to really get the best deal possible, especially if one is buying a used rv. For a new one, it isn't so much the price that a buyer needs to watch out for but the multiple add-ons that the dealership will attempt to include in the bargain.

In-car GPS – The Benefits

In recent times there have been some tremendous advances in the technology behind GPS or Global Positioning Satellites, and now this exciting technology is available to the general public. There are many uses for GPS, but the particular use we will be looking at in this article is the benefit relevant to the motorist.

The in-car system comprises of an easily mounted small unit which you attach to your windscreen or place on your dashboard. The great benefit is that once you have the unit installed in your car, you just key in your required destination, it will then give you turn by turn directions by voice and in real time.

This is extremely useful for any travelers who are in an unfamiliar area, which of course applies to most of us at one time or another. A lot of car rental firms are installing GPS units in their entire fleet of vehicles as an aid to their customers, and of course this also has advantages for them.

Another benefit is that if you are unfortunate enough to have your GPS equipped vehicle stolen, the authorities can pinpoint the exact location of it with ease. There are several insurance companies that will offer you a discount if your car is fitted with GPS.

A lot of GPS systems on the market come equipped with monitoring services, which can help with roadside assistance, and help in an emergency situation. An in-car system has the capability to be automatically programmed to call the nearest 911 operator when an accident occurs.

The good thing is that as these services utilize satellites, the signal will never suffer any interruption wherever you may be. So you can see what a valuable piece of equipment an in-car GPS unit can be, as it is available 24/7. So, if you ever find yourself in an emergency situation, you will be glad you invested in this great little piece of technology.

Increased SUV Crime: How To Protect Yourself

Automobiles have always been a target for thieves as most vehicles are much easier to break into than houses and unattended vehicles parked in structures or side streets allow thieves to commit their crimes virtually undetected. Even if your SUV has an alarm system, don't rely on it to keep your vehicle safe. Here are some tips to follow to deter thieves from choosing your SUV to break into:

First, don't leave valuables in plain view inside the vehicle. While some car thieves intend on stealing the actual car, many are just after the valuable objects left inside—laptops, electronics, purses, etc. These "smash and grab" thefts, where the thief quickly smashes a window, reaches in, grabs the goods, and runs off, can happen in less than 15 seconds. Unlike cars, in which valuables can be locked in a trunk, the nature of SUVs with their windows all around, make them greater targets for this type of theft. Because you can't always carry your valuables with you, we suggest installing a cargo cover in the back which acts as a shield to protect valuables from the sun as well as keeping them out of view from anyone passing by the SUV. Isuzu sells these types of retractable covers for the Ascender 5-Passenger for under $136.00, and they're available for most other SUV models as well.

Second, don't buy an SUV with third-row seats. These optional third-row seats are relatively cheap if bought as factory option (the Chevrolet Tahoe LS's seat is only $460.00), but the retail price for replacing the seat can be upwards of more than $1, 000.00. Because of their high demand and expense, as well as their lack of a traceable serial number, third-row seats have become a hot commodity for car thieves. Officer David Stennick of the Long Beach, California police department said, "[Third-row seat theft] has become a real problem over the last several months. Thieves aren't just stealing third-row seats stored in private garages. They're breaking into parked SUVs and grabbing third-row seats in the middle of the day." SUVs like the Toyota Highlander and Chevy Tahoe are primary targets. Until the automotive industry reacts to the surge in theft and begins to manufacture seats that are serialized in multiple places, we suggest avoiding those types of SUVs. It certainly decreases your chances of being a victim.

Third, don't keep key identity documents in your car. Be careful to remove mail, auto club information, credit card information, insurance and registration information from your SUV each time you get out. Keep your registration and insurance card in your wallet – after all, it doesn't need to be there if you aren't anyway. With identity theft continuing to be a growing problem, you can limit the access a thief has to information about you and your life by being prepared just in case your SUV is broken into. While we know it's a hassle to replace a broken window or stolen goods from your SUV, problems associated with identity theft can last a lifetime.

Fourth, pay attention to where you park. Always choose lots with security cameras, security guards, or high traffic volume over lots that are dark or nearly vacant. Thieves don't want to take chances they don't have to take, so if you're parked in a well-lit, busy place and have nothing of value that can be instantly seen inside the vehicle, chances are, they'll move on to a different SUV.

Increasing Your Gas Mileage

Ever-increasing gas prices have led many people to try just about anything to increase the gas mileage of their vehicles. Print ads and TV infomercials hawking products “guaranteed” to increase your mileage by 20%, 30% or more abound. Do these products really work? Is there anything that can be done to increase the gas mileage of your car? Is it really possible to come out ahead at the pump?

The first thing to note is that there is no gadget or gas additive that has been proven. The EPA has tested over 100 different items from “mixture enhancers” to fuel line magnets. Most of these items showed no increase in fuel economy. The ones that showed any change at all showed only marginal increases. Popular Science magazine actually found that some of these items decreased fuel efficiency.

Your best bet is to keep your money in your pocket when it comes to mileage-enhancing items. The only person seeing a fatter wallet is the manufacturer. There are, however, proven ways that you can increase your fuel efficiency:

Drive Carefully – Aggressive driving can decrease your fuel economy by as much as 33%, according to the U.S. government’s fuel economy website. Speeding, rapid acceleration and braking are all symptoms of aggressive driving. Drive carefully and sensibly, and you will spend less at the pump.

Observe The Posted Speed Limit – Speeding costs you big at the gas station. Gas mileage decreases dramatically at speeds over 60 miles per hour. Generally, you can figure that for each five miles per hour you drive over the speed limit, you are burning enough extra fuel that it equivalent to paying an additional twenty cents per gallon.

Lighten Up –Remove excess items from your car and trunk. For each 100 pounds of additional weight in your car, you can expect to lower your gas mileage by as much as 2%.

Inflate Your Tires – Properly inflating your tires increases fuel economy by an average of 5%. As an added benefit, your tires will wear more evenly and last longer, too.

Change Your Oil and Air Filter – Change your oil and air filter on the schedule recommended by your car’s manufacturer (check you manual for this schedule). Keeping your oil clean means your engine doesn’t have to work as hard, and less strain on the engine equates to better gas mileage. A dirty air filter is a sure-fire mileage killer. In fact, a dirty air filter can cause you to increase your gas usage by as much as 10%.

Tune Up Your Engine – Adhering to the recommended maintenance schedule improves gas mileage anywhere from 4%-10%. In addition, your car will run better and last longer.

Easy steps such as the ones outlined above can significantly impact your car’s fuel efficiency. Driving properly and taking care of your vehicle will save you more money at the pump than any gadget or additive ever could.

Easy steps such as the ones outlined above can significantly impact your car’s fuel efficiency. Driving properly and taking care of your vehicle will save you more money at the pump than any gadget or additive ever could.

Information About Hybrid Cars

Hybrid cars are one of the most important advancements in travel technologies as they combine the benefits of both gas engines and electric motors to lower gas emissions and help the environment. Information about how hybrid cars work is freely available and there are different aspects that make hybrids popular. Finding out information about how hybrid cars work can help people make the choice to switch especially if they wish to gain the benefits of economizing fuel use, increased power and the ability to shut down the engine automatically while stopped in traffic.

There is information about hybrid cars and the advanced technologies used by hybrid cars such as regenerative braking, electric motor assist, automatic and automatic shut off and start. Hybrid cars use regenerative braking that allows the brakes to be used as a generator that converts normally wasted energy into electricity which is stored inside the car battery until required by the motor. Electric motor assist gives additional power when the engine is accelerating or driving up a steep hill which means that smaller engines can be used. Hybrid cars can also have the ability to shut off the engine when the car stops and restart it when it is put back in gear and accelerated. All of the information about hybrid cars point towards it being a valuable and economic asset.

Switching to a hybrid car could be the most important decision a driver makes so it is necessary to know all of the information about hybrid cars first. These cars are affordable and efficient, saving money in the long term and promoting less gas emissions and a healthier environment. They use small gas engines and electric motors to assist the engine and which is powered by batteries which automatically recharge while the car is being driven. Practical and safe, these cars are growing in popularity around the world. They reduce the drag on a car, have low rolling resistance tires and are made from lightweight materials which combine to make this car drive effortlessly along a road.

The most important information about hybrid cars to consider when making a switch is that they reduce tailpipe emissions and also improve mileage. Lowering the amounts of bad gases released into the atmosphere is a good thing for everyone but particularly now with growing trends dictating limits to be set on all emissions from cars.

Information About Three Wheelers Or Atc’s

Three wheelers, also known as ATCs, trikes and ATVs, were manufactured primarily to be used as recreation vehicles. Riders love to hop on their ATVs and ride on their property especially if it is a large one. There are some important facts related to three wheelers which should be mentioned in order to provide a little more information about recreation vehicles of this type.

Since three wheelers are recreational vehicles, they are frequently only allowed to be used on one’s private property. This will vary depending on the location as some public property in various states may allow the operation of three wheelers.

One who is thinking about operating a three wheeler should also be aware of certain safety factors which relate to three wheeler use. Since the ATC only has three wheels, it is more likely to turn over on rough terrain and sharp turns than its quad counterpart. In order to operate the three wheeler in the safest manner, the operator should go at speeds which are slow enough to adequately maneuver around corners and turns. In addition, the three wheeler driver should use common sense when operating the vehicle and recognize its limitations as well as hazards in certain situations.

Three wheelers are a fun recreational vehicle for the whole family to enjoy. However, there are certain individuals who may be too young to operate the vehicle or ride on the vehicle. One should check their local laws regarding all-terrain vehicle operation regulations and see if there are any age limitations with regard to drivers or riders on three wheelers. In addition, parental supervision should be complied with as this is a heavy, motorized vehicle which could cause injury if not used properly and in a responsible manner.

In the past, three wheeler sales were quite impressive. However, these days that number has been greatly diminished if not obliterated as manufacturers do not readily make these vehicles any more. Due to liability reasons, manufacturers of all-terrain vehicles have chosen to manufacture quads, or four wheelers, instead as they are more sturdy and tend to turn over much less than three wheelers.

Three wheelers provide a great recreational sport for those who like to have a little adventure out in the great outdoors. Although these vehicles are not readily for sale anymore, one can choose to ride any of their all-terrain counterparts and still feel the wind in their hair on the trails. By reviewing the previously mentioned facts, one can determine for themselves if owning and riding a three wheeler is what they would like to do. It is important to review the facts prior to hopping on one of these adventurous vehicles.

Information on Bosch VP 44 Diesel Pumps for Diesel Trucks

If you are looking for a new injection pump for your Dodge Cummins diesel engine, but are not sure which is the best model, than please continue reading. In this article we explain some common failures with injection pumps. The Cummins diesel engine manufactured by Dodge between 1998 and 2002 came equipped with a Bosch VP44 injection pump. Unfortunately these injection pumps have been know to have their fair share of issues and may need to be replaced.

Bosch VP44 injection pumps perform four basic functions:

1. Distributing the high-pressure, metered fuel to each cylinder at the precise time
2. Metering the exact amount of fuel for each injection cycle
3. Varying the timing relative to engine speed.
4. Producing the high fuel pressure required for injection

The Bosch VP44 is an electronic rotary distributor pump that can vary fuelling and injection timing, and also contains fuelling, timing, and diagnostic data.

The number one cause of Bosch VP44 injection pump failure is a drop in fuel line pressure, which is usually due to a malfunctioning lift pump. Normal fuel pressure is around 15psi and if the pressure drops below 5psi an injection pump failure is probable. Remember bad lift pumps can run unnoticed until costly damage is done to the Bosch VP44 injection pump.

The following are the top two most common mechanical failures:

1. Check Engine Code 216
This is the most common mechanical failure and occurs over a period of time when weak lift pumps, with low fuel pressure; rupture the diaphragm in the front of the injection pump. The timing piston will then vibrate to a point where it wears the housing of the pump down until the fuel is able to bypass the piston. Dodge has recognized this problem for some time, and they no longer even sell the lift pump that goes on the side of the block anymore, instead they replace it with a unit that is now mounted in the tank.

2. Rotor Seizure
Another mechanical failure with the Bosch VP44 injection pump happens when the rotor seizes in the distributor section of the pump. The most common cause for the seizure is a lack of lubrication. Since the fuel lubricates the Bosch VP44 injection pumps, weak lifts pumps can again be blamed for this failure. The seizure will then break the Drive Plate and the truck will stop running, never to start again, until the Bosch VP44 injection pump is replaced.

Preventing Bosch VP44 injection pump Failure
The best way to avoid failures of the Bosch VP44 injection pump is to prevent them from happening. Purchasing a replacement lift pump, one that is of a better quality than what comes from the factory will help. If that option is too costly, you can also install a gauge to monitor your fuel pressure. With the gauge you will be able to know when your lift pump is going out and can easily fix the problem before you lose the Bosch VP44 injection pump.

Preventing problems before they occur is the best way to take care of your truck.

Insider Secrets To Buying A Used Car

The used car market continues to grow and, as with increased inflation in the form of higher house rentals, school fees and food prices, the demand for good quality used cars is likely to become an increasingly attractive proposition for many people who would have bought brand new vehicles in the past.

If you buy for the first time a used car, you need some tips. You may buy it from a dealer or from a private seller. Dealerships are usually a safer choice because they offer you a guarantee on what they sell. The disadvantage is that a dealer may offer a higher price than a private seller.

A dealer should provide to the seller a buyer’s guide, which must contain the following information:- The car has a warranty or not- How much of the repair costs the warranty covers- The major systems on the car to look out for- Reminders to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic

It is recommended not to buy a used car as it is, if you don’t trust the seller and you don’t a CARFAX Report.

Irrespective of the way of purchasing the car, you have to know who the owner was or who the owners were, why the previous owner wants to sell it. Besides, you have to know what was it being used for and if it has been in any accidents. In addition, you have to know what problems it has had in the past and when it got a tune-up for the last time.

You should read a car history report, but most of the times this report is not reliable. You should ask a good mechanic if there is a proof of an accident.

Obviously, you should know the particular model you are interested in. You may give the car an overall inspection yourself, or a person who is familiarized with cars. Check the doors first as they mustn’t be flush with the body, and check as well curious patches of paint. If you smell mildew, somewhere inside there is a sign of water damage.

When you close the deal, make sure to get all the promises in writing. Warranty information shouldn’t be omitted. If you buy the car from a dealer, don’t lose your buyer’s guide, for future reference.

Remember, your used car won’t have the shiny appearance of a brand new one. This can be fixed with paint and restoration, if it is in good running condition. Even a good wax job can return the shine. Don’t forget the headlights when you are restoring the exterior finish.

There is a great product called New Lite Headlight Cleaner and Restorer that returns headlights to their original condition. Cloudy headlights are a safety concern, as they won’t work as well.

Take the automobile on the roads you typically travel to get a feel for how it will handle under your normal driving conditions.

My last bit of advice is to go to Kelly Blue Book's website, www.kbb.com to estimate the used car's value. Happy Car Hunting!

Inter Stellar Durability

The seventeen years of existence and production of the Mercury comet series has marked its legacy in the constellation of the car industry. The Mercury division is a line up of automobiles under the Ford Motor Company. The Mercury Comet lineup started to hit the road in 1960. Due to its many alterations and modifications in the seventeen years that it was produced, the car was hardly classified as a compact or as a mid sized car.

When it was initially introduced on March of 1960, the car was out with two styles either as a 2 or 4 door sedan or a 2 or 4 door wagon. Six years after the Comet grew from being a compact car to a middle size car. When it reached its zenith in 1977, the Mercury Comet series went through a lot of modifications to better the outlook and the performance of the car. The production was ceased on the same year to make way for other Mercury models for the next generation.

With this case to consider and the limited number of Mercury Comets around, the car became an instant classic. Not only was it made to be up with the fashion statement of the late sixties and the mid seventies but it also had the reputation of being a sturdy car of its kind. The Mercury Comet has been sought after by vintage car collectors and avid fans of the series. As classic as it can get, the more priced it can be. Even the car owners of this model select the Mercury Comet as their choice if classic cars are to be the issue.

To preserve the vintage outlook of the Mercury Comet, the right accessories should be considered to come with the classic car. A set of Mercury Comet key chains are available to be part of the classic experience. The designs of the said accessories will surely maintain the vintage feel of your car. The choice between circular chrome and a metallic oval key chain is for the driver’s disposal. The Mercury Comet logo is the center piece of every design. The materials used to come up with these wonderfully crafted accessories are proven and tested to be fail safe and durable. The merchandise is available in local novelty stores or in online shops catering tto these type of collectibles. Yo further personalize your experience, the back portion of the key chain can be engraved with your name or a personal message with an additional price.

Everyone dreams of classic cars, and if you happen to own a Mercury Comet vintage car, you might as well be a complete Mercury Comet person. With the right accessories for you and the right car to drive, the interstellar trip to your destination will be made possible with the right stuff with you. As you drive your Mercury Comet on the road, as you here the sound of its engine and as you feel the wind rush through your windows, be proud to experience the total Mercury Comet rush.

Inventor Of The Hybrid Car

A hybrid car is a means of transportation using two sources of power. It uses a rechargeable energy storage system found on board as well as a fuelled power source as the vehicle's driving force. The car pollutes less and uses less fuel. Victor Wouk (1919 – 2005) was an electrical engineer and entrepreneur and the inventor of the hybrid car. He was born in New York City and received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in 1939.

In 1962, Wouk was approached by a founder of Motorola cars, Russell Feldman, who identified the pollution from cars as one of the biggest problems of the environment. He wanted to find out the solutions to this problem. During the 1960’s and 1970’s, Wouk thought over this problem and got involved with vehicles. After a significant amount of work, he combined the low-emission benefits of an electric car with the power of a gasoline engine to produce a hybrid vehicle, effectively transforming a Buick Skylark vehicle with a 20 kilowatt direct-current electric motor and an RX-2 Mazda rotary engine.

The vehicle was tested at the Environmental Protection Agency's emissions investigation laboratories where it acquired more than twice the fuel economy of the vehicle before it was converted. The vehicles emission rates were also only nine percent of those of a gas powered car. It appeared as if Wouk had invented a new hybrid vehicle. At first, Wouk did not get any response to his ideas for inventing a hybrid car. He was very heavily condemned for not believing in a full electric system. Will the help of a friend, Charlie Rosen, who also believed in what hybrid cars could do and achieve, Wouk and Rosen created a new company to develop their hybrid car idea and make it viable in the market and be used as a car that people would use everyday.

They wanted the hybrid to be a car that created a solution to the problems of auto-pollution. As the inventor of hybrid cars, Wouk’s work throughout his life gave him the name of ‘the grandfather of electric and hybrid vehicles in the United States’. Despite of all his hard work in the sixties and seventies however, hybrid cars only started to appear in the vehicle market in the late 1990’s. They are now becoming exceptionally popular, both by people who see them as a way of helping the environment, and those who see it as a way to save funds.

Ipod Car Accessories, Take Your Tunes For A Ride

Now that you have an iPod that is fully loaded with your favorite music you can take it with you where ever you go. That is the beauty of an iPod small and very potable. With an iPod you can listen to your tunes while working out at the gym, working in the yard, or taking a walk.

How about listening to your iPod in the car? Listening to your iPod while driving using a head set can lead to a dangerous situation. With your favorite song cranked up you will not be able to hear anything around you.

Are there iPod car accessories that will allow you to safely listen to your tunes in your car? Yes there are, two such iPod car accessories are the car mount and the FM transmitter and car dock.

Car Mount

An iPod car mount is an adjustable iPod holder that firmly attaches to the louvers of the vents located on the dashboard. This holder is easily removed which allows for the user to reposition the device. In addition, because of the mobility that this device offers, this iPod car accessory can be transferred to other vehicles. Also, because the device is attached to the vent, there is no need for installation tools or damage to be done to the interior of the vehicle.

In addition to being easy to use, minimize the distraction element for the driver. The iPod car mount will securely hold the iPod and prevent the device from falling. Also, the iPod display will be close to eye level which will aid the user in viewing the screen.

Some of the new high end cars now offer a built in car dock for your iPod. The car dock is integrated with the car’s audio system so that when an iPod is docked it will play the songs from the iPod. What if I don’t own a car that has an integrated iPod dock? Not a problem, consider the FM transmitter and car dock.

FM Transmitter and Car Dock

The FM transmitter car dock plugs into the car’s cigarette lighter. The car dock has a slot that fits into the iPod’s data connector. While connected the car dock will charge the iPod. The car dock mounts on your dashboard or center console. The car dock holds your iPod securely in place so that the iPod will not slide across the seat when making a sharp turn.

The car dock also connects to the iPod’s headphone jack. The dock contains a mini FM transmitter. The FM transmitter can be adjusted as to which ‘station’ it will broadcast on. Before you head out on your trip, find an empty FM station on your radio and then adjust the FM transmitter to broadcast on that frequency. Tune your car radio to the same frequency and you are now able to listen to your tunes that are stored on your iPod.

What good is having an iPod if you cannot listen to your music whenever and where ever you go? With these iPod car accessories you can safely listen to your music while driving in your car.

Is A Bugatti Veyron Is Better Than A Pagani Zonda?

Is a Bugatti Veyron better than a Pagani Zonda? It depends what you mean by better. Sure it is faster and more expensive. In theory it is more exclusive, but in practice any of these exotic cars is so exclusive it does not matter. What about the Ferrari FXX - now that is so exclusive you can't drive it on the road.

If you want to accelerate faster than anyone else you don't need a Bugatti. There are other cheaper cars that do the job. The Ultima GTR is one, and the Caparo T1 will be another. Maybe the SSC Ultimate Aero TT is another.

The Bugatti Veyron gets to 100 mph in about 5.5 seconds – the actual figure varies according to who timed it. However, the Ultima GTR can reach 10 mph in 5.3 seconds which is blisteringly quick – that was timed independently.

The Pagani Zonda is not as quick as that, taking 2 seconds more than the Veyron to get to 124 mph (200 km/h).But believe me, for practical purposes there is very little difference between the performance of these cars. In real life, the difference is smaller because neither the Zonda nor Ultima have turbochargers, so when you press the accelerator you get instant response; with the Bugatti you will wait an instant for the turbos to cut in.

Sure, the Veyron looks and sounds different from other cars, and if you like the looks. well, go for it.

On the other hand if you want a car that accelerates, handles, is very fast, beautifully finished, and causes excitement wherever it goes you might go for a Pagani Zonda or another exotic car, like the Ascari KZ1 or Saleen S7. The Ultima is the world champion for out-and-out acceleration and braking.

All depends what you want it for. Me, I fancy a Pagani, although it is not the prettiest of cars, but it sure has fantastic presence on the road.

Is A No Haggle Dealership For You

In 1990, General Motors capitalized on consumer's intense dislike of the auto purchasing process and introduced the Saturn. Saturns were, and are still, sold at a flat price with no dickering, dealing or haggling. Today, almost 25% of car buyers purchase vehicles from flat price, or no-haggle, dealerships. But are they truly saving money?

At no-haggle dealerships, cars are priced at a flat rate that typically includes a standard options package and a built in profit for the dealer. Additional options may be sold in flat-rate packages or a la carte. At regular dealerships, cars are displayed with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price but everything including options, warranty, financing and dealer profit is negotiable.

Research has shown that educated consumers pay much less for cars at regular dealerships than at no-haggle dealerships. This is because regular dealers set average profit goals over time. For example, if they sell five cars, the average profit per car should be a certain amount, say $1,000. That means of those five cars, three could sell for $1000 profit, but the dealer could make $2000 and $0 profit on the remaining two cars and still hit their goal. At a no-haggle dealership, the profit goal is fixed per car, meaning that while you will not pay $1000 more because you have poor negotiating skills, you will also not save $1000 if you have good ones.

There are certain people who historically do benefit from purchasing cars from no-haggle dealerships. Young adults, women and minorities in particular, have historically paid higher prices than other groups at regular auto dealerships and may benefit from no-haggle pricing. In fact, reacting to the trend of more and more young people turning to no-haggle dealerships for their automobile purchases, Toyota introduced the Scion in 2003. The Scion is a small car that comes with trendy options packages and is priced and marketed directly at young people who don't want to negotiate to purchase their car.

Therefore, if you are willing to do the research and confident in your negotiation skills, you will almost certainly save money at a regular dealership unless you want a Saturn or Scion. Then you'll have to pay the same price as everyone else. However, if you're timid, too busy to research or spend time making a deal, or in one of the groups that historically are offered worse deals, you may be better off at a no-haggle dealership.

Is A Tonneau Cover Any Good? Duh.

A tonneau cover is about the best aftermarket auto accessory you can invest in for your pickup truck. The advantages of owning a truck bed cover heavily out-weigh the amount of money you are going to pay for one.

The advantages of owning a tonneau cover can be such as the great added look you will give your vehicle by adding one to your truck bed. There are so many different types out there you should have no problem picking out a look that is right for you. You can get a sleek looking low profile, or one that stands up a little. There are soft covers, fiberglass tonneau covers, aluminum, roll-up, retractable, electric, folding, hinged and more.

Having a truck bed cover on the back of your truck will protect your cargo from weather conditions such as snow or rain. There is no need of having everything in your cargo area soaking wet. Who wants to shovel snow out their truck box before using it? Just being able to keep the debris out is a bonus with pollen or leaves in the fall. It just a real clean sleek look having a tonneau cover.

Whenever you haul delicate cargo such as flowers or plants or even paper products a truck lid will protect them from winds such as created from higher speed highway driving.

Without a tonneau cover you don’t feel safe leaving your vehicle with cargo in it, even for a few moments. There are a lot of people out there who like to take things that don’t belong to them but when they can’t see what your truck box contains they don’t even think about it. For added protection there are quite a few tonneau covers that are lockable today.

Having one on your truck bed in the closed position will create less wind resistance by allowing the wind to pass over your vehicle instead of hitting the tailgate causing drag. Less drag spells less fuel consumption and there is no need for me to mention the advantages of saving fuel to you.

Investing in a lid is just the logical thing to do when you’re the owner of a pickup truck. For those of you who have not decided if a tonneau cover is any good. Well Duh. Have a happy shopping experience, you’ll be glad you did.

Is It Time To Reconsider Your Automotive Insurance Policy?

Americans are a busy group of people, and once we take care of something, such as purchasing automotive insurance, we tend to forget about it and move on to the next task. However, purchasing an automotive insurance policy only to neglect it could end up costing you more money in the long run, or even leaving you unprotected. There are times in our lives when we need to stop and evaluate our current automotive insurance policies.

Reconsider your automotive insurance policy when you get married. When two people get married, they can get an automotive insurance policy together, thus spending less money and possibly even getting additional discounts.

Reconsider your automotive insurance policy if you purchase a new car. If you’ve borrowed money from a lender to purchase your new car, chances are your lender will require you to purchase full coverage insurance. Even if your lender doesn’t, your state most likely will. If your automotive insurance policy only covers liability because you own one of your cars, or the car you traded in, you need to increase the coverage of your automotive insurance policy.

Reconsider your automotive insurance policy if you relocate. If you currently live in a quaint little country town that sees very little wrongdoing aside from the occasional cow-tipping, you probably don’t have a very high amount of automotive insurance. However, if you’re moving to a larger city with a higher crime rate, your car will be more at risk and you should make sure you add the extra coverage.

Reconsider your automotive insurance policy if you’re getting on in years. Most insurance companies offer discounts to policyholders who are a certain age – usually 55 years old. If this is you, give your agent a call and find out about discounts you may qualify for.

Remember, certain tasks are worth completing and forgetting. Taking out the trash is one of them; purchasing automotive insurance is not.

Is It Worthwhile Insuring Your Personalised Number Plate?

There are available insurance schemes covering the loss of personalised number plates , but are they a worthwhile expenditure? Let us look at the potential circumstances which could result in a claim.

The first would be the theft of the registration number on it’s own.To do this the criminal would nee your vehicle documents ( V5C log book,m.o.t and tax disc ) he would also have to forge your signature and change the address on your V5C.Unless you keep you V5C in the glovebox this is a low risk scenario.

Second would be the theft of the car with the number on it.Once again the thief would need your vehicle documents to be able to transfer the registration. It is no longer possible to obtain a duplicate log book as if someone other than you applies the DVLA will write to you immediately. If the car is not recovered you can get your registration number back through normal DVLA procedures although you will have to wait 12 months.Having insurance will not alter this rule.

Total loss is next.Assuming the car is a write off following an accident it should be easy enough to put the number on retention before you settle with the insurance company , do not part with the V5C until you have done this.

Failure to transfer the registration number before selling or trading the car is the last possible scenario.Registration numbers go with the car ( or more accurately the V5C ) sq it is recommended to always put the number on retention before you even advertise the car.Should the personalised number plate be lost through failure to do this it would amount to negligence on your part and it is unlikely to be covered by insurance.

In summary it seems , in our opinion , that insuring your personalised number plate may not be as worthwhile as it might appear as there are already procedures in place to protect you.In any event the DVLA know where all cars and registration numbers are and can therefore trace them and a personalised number plate is of no use to anyone outside the uk so what would a thief do with it?

Is No Frills Car Insurance Worth The Risk?

With the cost of owning and insuring a car rising, more and more UK motorists are looking for ways to save money on their car insurance. Some motor insurers have responded to this by offering no-frills policies that still provide comprehensive cover to insure the basics but exclude many of the extra's that traditional car insurance provides as standard.

The most recent insurers to enter this growing niche of the car insurance market are Tesco with their Value Insurance policy and Norwich Union who have branded their policy Simple Cover.

You might be wondering, though, if these no-frills car insurance plans are simply a marketing gimmick to win new customers or whether they really can save you money without affecting your cover significantly. If you are a careful driver, aren't too bothered about some of the policy extras included on some standard car insurance and you can afford to pay a higher excess should the worst happen, then a simple car insurance policy might save you money.

On the surface, it appears to boil down to be willing to accept more liability in case of an accident. If you can increase your voluntary excess, for example, then you will have to pay more out of your own pocket should you discover a cracked windscreen, or have a minor crunch in a car park. On the other hand, a higher excess should result in a much lower monthly premium which can result in big savings should you not need to make a claim.

So what else might you be missing out on if you choose a "no-frills" policy? No-frills car insurance is about cutting away the little extras and just leaving the most basic cover to keep you on the road. This might mean that things are a little more inconvenient should you have an accident, however. In case of damage to your vehicle, you could have to go to an approved garage for the repairs rather than to your own local garage. You might also have to give up the little extras like a courtesy car should your vehicle be off the road for any reason, again causing the expense to fall to you should you need it. Some no-frills policies do offer these options at an extra cost, but allow you to pay less if you don't require them.

In the end, all insurance is about risk and saving money on no-frills car insurance comes down to whether or not you are willing to take the risk of paying more should you have an accident or need to claim for a cracked windscreen or car park crunch. As with any insurance, ensure you read the small print and be aware of any hidden extras that could actually end up costing you more than a standard motor policy. If you've been lucky enough to avoid a collision so far, it's also important to really consider the hassle and expense that can follow and whether a basic policy will provide sufficient support and protection when you need it most.

Is Online Car Buying Right For You?

Is it time for a new car? Depending on where you’re located, it may be possible for you to save a substantial amount of time and money by researching and buying your new car online. Buying cars online is becoming just as normal as buying household items online. The internet is truly expanding to make it easier and cheaper for dealers to sell and buyers to buy.

Dealers love the concept; they get more visitors than the average walk in neighborhood dealership and don’t necessarily have 8 car sales people sitting around reading the paper. Their overhead drops significantly while the sales and profits soar through the roof. Consumers are starting to get more comfortable with it because a high percentage of car shoppers hate the car dealership experience. But online they can get the answers many of us are afraid to ask when we’re sitting in front of a pushy car salesman.

In some countries such as the United Kingdom, an increasing number of people are choosing to cut out shady dealerships and buy their new auto on the internet. Now you have the luxury to shop online and take your time understanding what vehicle and what price you want. As long as you choose a reputable source, it’s possible to save a substantial chunk of money by purchasing your new car online.

Remember, when you buy online you cannot test out the car you’re interested in..so only choose to buy online once you’ve driven the car (try it out at a dealership first). Even when buying online you should still do your homework and know the car you're getting and the price it's worth. Learn about the car you like before a dealer decides what they want you to buy, which is the car that makes them more commission, keep the ball in your court.

Use price guides such as Edmunds or Kelley Blue Book to find out the true value of the car you’re buying. This will make sure you’re not paying more then normal prices for your new or used car. A little homework will give you some confidence and most probably save you some cash.

Many online sites for car purchases work by local dealers offering you free price quotes (these can often be negotiated downwards). These sites are growing larger by the month and are being considered more and more by consumers in North America. Popular sites like Auto Trader which we took as a manual search from their catalogues at the store are now really building their online presence. Other sites like CarsDirect.com, CarMax.com and CarPrice.com are also starting to see sales rise.

Some sites will even offer a lowest price guarantee - so if you do find the car for less, they’ll match the price. Additionally, some online car buying sites will even drive the car directly to your home. If you're in the market for a new car and really don't like the whole dealership experience, this just might be what you're looking for.

Serious ease and convenience not to mention you can save thousands of dollars this way. But best of all, no hard sell.

Is Womens Car Insurance Just A Marketing Gimmick?

Women's car insurance has been popping up all over the net and our TV screens lately. There's a whole new class of insurers like Sheila's Wheels and Cover Girl who offer car insurance for ladies only. They promise lower premiums for women drivers because, they claim, it's cheaper for them to insure women. Women are better drivers so a lower risk, they say. They have fewer accidents, fewer driving convictions and when they do have an accident, the repairs are usually cheaper. So, is it really true, or is it just another marketing gimmick?

The answer to the question is both yes and no. Women only insurance companies are marketing to a specific niche - women drivers. Of course it's a gimmick, but like the best marketing gimmicks, it is based in truth. Here are the facts about women drivers and insurance:

-92% of driving convictions are handed out to men.

Those figures are changing, though, as women become more aggressive drivers. According to statistics gathered by the car insurance comparison site confused.com, 16.8% of male drivers have convictions on their driving record, compared to 9.8% of female drivers. That number is up from 4.8% of female drivers just three years ago.

-Men drive differently than women.

A whopping 98% of dangerous driving convictions were handed out to male drivers last year. According to all the research, men tend to be more aggressive and competitive behind the wheel than women, and that naturally leads to more accidents. Women tend to drive more slowly - generally within the speed limits - and to drive shorter distances. All of those facts add up to fewer accidents that involve women. (So much for all those jokes about lousy women drivers. The statistics say otherwise.)

-Insurance companies pay out less in damages for policies taken out by women.

When women do get into an accident, they tend to be of the fender-bender scrape variety. Overall, insurance companies have always known that female drivers cost them less in payouts.

However, that doesn't necessarily translate to the lowest premiums from companies that only insure women. In fact, many of them offer actual quotes that are higher than the rate you'd be quoted from a more generic motor insurance company. The truth is that despite the widespread sentiment that women drivers underwrite their more expensive male counterparts by paying higher insurance, most insurance companies offer lower insurance rates to female drivers as a customary part of doing business.

That's not to say that you won't get the best price from an insurer who only insures women's cars. The bottom line is the same as it is with any other auto insurance decision. Shop around. Get insurance rate quotes from a number of different companies before you decide on the policy that's best for you. Keep in mind when you're comparing policies that you should always compare like with like. Decide on the specific cover that you want before you start requesting quotes, and make sure that the rate you're quoted includes all the cover you need. It's really the only way to be absolutely certain you're getting the best cover for your money.

Is Your Harley Davidson Ready For Sale

What if there will come a time when you have to sell your Harley-Davidson? You do this maybe because you want to buy another, newer model or would like to buy a much older, harder to find one. You can come up with unlimited reasons why you have to sell your Harley-Davidson of course. But with all these, have you asked yourself: “Is my Harley-Davidson ready for sale?”

If your answer is “maybe”, “I don’t know”, or a definite “no”, follow some tips below and you will surely get your Harley-Davidson sold in no time…

Do the aesthetics.

If you are a buyer, you simply would like to buy a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that looks great. Since the exterior is the very first thing that a costumer would look at when buying a Harley-Davidson or any vehicle for that matter, you should pay attention to it before anything else. You can look on the weak spots of your Harley and make changes on it. Dents should be removed. Rusts should not be in any visual. Dusts should not sit on corners. In short, your motorcycle must be clean on the outside. It will not only give your potential buyer the impression that you maintain your Harley very well, it will also increase the value of it.

Do the inside.

Some riders buy Harley-Davidson for its sound and engine performance. So, you have to keep the sound as Harley as possible. If you can, maintain the original sound of your Harley. Sell your motorcycle by promoting the sound and the engine. In other words, if you have a great Harley sound, you are one step closer to the sale.

The price.

The price of your Harley-Davidson would either depend on its current market value or on how well you maintain it. Set the price which is very attractive to buyers but not necessarily cheap. Price should always be reasonable.

The receipts.

If you happen to do some changes or replaces some parts that have to be replaced, you should compile all the receipts of these and present them to the buyer. Receipts are your supporting documents when you sell your vehicle to the potential buyer.

Remember that when you follow all these, you get increase your chances of landing at the best sale possible. Though these would help, you have to remember that working to achieve it relies on you and you alone.

It’s About Time!: Hybrid Trucks

With the increasing concern about environmental issues such as pollution and global warming, as well as the unbelievable rise in the price of gasoline, it is no wonder that hybrid vehicles are gaining popularity. Hybrid cars have been relatively common for years, with hybrid Sport Utility Vehicles in close competition, but what about hybrid trucks? We don't see those too often. Automotive manufacturing giant General Motors, however, believes that will change.

In 2005, GM introduced hybrid versions of the Chevy Silverado and the GMC Sierra in Florida, California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Alaska. In 2006 the company made the vehicles available nationwide. These hybrid pickup trucks have 5.3 liter V-8 engines which have exactly the same amount of power and torque as there non-hybrid counterparts (295 horsepower, 325 pound/feet of torque). They can carry the same size loads, tow the same weights, and accelerate to the same degree that regular non-hybrid GM pickup trucks can. And they do it all while providing the most efficient gas mileage of any full-sized pickup on the market—about 20 miles per gallon on the highway. These hybrid trucks also feature a 2400 watt generator that can be used to power electrical devices, making them ideal for contractors or construction workers.

When compared to the Toyota Prius, a small hybrid car that gets 50 miles per gallon, 20 mpg might not sound like much. It is in fact only about a 10 percent difference from the fuel consumption of regular non-hybrid GM trucks. This is because the Prius is what is known as a “full hybrid,” which means that its internal combustion engine can shut off completely when the car is idle or driving at low speeds, relying solely on battery power and drastically improving fuel efficiency. This type of fuel savings is great, but it requires a significant compromise of power, which is something that the general pickup truck owner simply will not stand for.

Many truck owners use their vehicles for work related purposes, such as hauling heavy loads, and it is essential that a hybrid pickup truck be able to do this. If automotive manufacturers sacrifice power to gain fuel economy in hybrid trucks, their customers will disappear. Acutely aware of this, General Motors has decided that a little improvement is better than none at all.

Hybrid Cars and Trucks and the Environment

With fossil fuel emissions at levels of billions of tons per year and global warming becoming increasingly obvious, it is clear that sooner or later something must be done. For decades, scientists and researchers have tried to find alternative fuel sources, but there simply was nothing as convenient as the old standby—oil. The oil infrastructure is so vast and developed that is has become impossible to think of cars without thinking of gasoline, and many Americans are loath to change. But they must. Every major city in the country—New York, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, and most notably Las Angeles—is plagued by pollution. The cities are shrouded by smog, there are pollution warnings on weather reports, and at times it is impossible even to take a deep breath without noticing that something is wrong with the air. This is not a world that most of us want to live in. But if more people are willing to take the plunge and buy a hybrid car or truck, the effects over time will be enormous. A hybrid truck might be more expensive initially, but the fuel savings will soon make it worthwhile. And as hybrid technology improves, the cost of these vehicles will no doubt be reduced, making the future a lot brighter, and a lot less smoggy, for the next generation of Earthlings.

It’s Never Too Early To Teach Kids Safe Driving With Pedal Cars

Children love to pretend. They want everything their mommies and daddies have in kiddy size, even cars. Teaching them road safety rules is easy and fun with colorful pedal cars.

Play and learn

Dolls, pedal cars, and Legos – these are the favorite playthings of toddlers. From playing, they learn a lot about the things around them. Life’s lessons begin with the first tumble. From then on they learn how to avoid those nasty bumps.

From day one, children are smothered with toys. These are usually brightly colored non-toxic playthings. In the crib, a baby can gaze at the decorative mobile and hear the tinkling sounds. This is a way of teaching the child to use his visual and auditory senses. He learns to develop his motor skills by grasping toys and learns their texture by putting the rattle in his mouth.

From mobiles to pedal cars

The nursery mobile loses its appeal when babies are ready for bigger and more interesting things. The little tykes want to have pedal cars, electric trains, kites, and bikes. Parents should take the time to teach the children how to use their toys properly to prevent injury. Toys bought should also be appropriate for the child’s age. Three-year-olds can start driving pedal cars but only under the watchful eye of an adult.

One dad brought his little boy along for a drive. He explained that driving a car is a big responsibility. The little passenger listened intently as his Dad explained that drivers must follow rules and must be good on the road. When they returned home, the little one asked if he should also be careful when driving his pedal cars. His dad told him to avoid hitting mommy and the dog. Like daddy, he must watch where he was going. The little boy learned very early the rudiments of safe driving.

The child can be taught where to park his cars when the play is over. He can play pretend by cleaning the car. You can check his toy car regularly for defects along with him.

Pedal cars galore

Pedal cars come in different designs and colors. If you see one, you’ll want them all. Classic Pedal cars provide children leg exercise when they drive on the lawn or indoors. They also learn to coordinate their hand-leg movements by speeding down the hallways. They quickly learn when to brake, so they are encouraged to think fast.

There are several models to choose from – Sidewalk Cruisers, Race Cars, fire engines, jalopies, and flashy sports cars. You can surprise the young ones with a storage disguised as a gas pump. There are also pedal planes, bikes, and motorcycles. These toys are built to last with durable materials.

When buying toys

Before buying toys, check the label for age recommendations. Find out if the pedal cars are flame retardant. Also check out the hinges and fastenings. When you take home one, show your child how to use and store it safely. They may not be able to do it perfectly, but it would be a nice try.

Jaguar E-Type : The Classic

In the past, Jaguar, high class cars from England had small-sized and active features and high performance were favorable. Their appearance looked sedan and suited the passengers who loved to get anywhere in a group. They thought that there were many playboy millionaires, and if they were to produce a sport-car model, they could have marketed quite well. At least, Jaguar had built its good reputation from the racing cars for a very long time, especially Le Mans 24 hours.

A lot of people said that Jaguar’s sport series which began to be known well and were affordable could be XK series. XK 120 in the year 1948, followed up by XK 140 in 1955, and became XK 150 in 1957. They used quite modern engines that their competition had not known. Modernization, streamline that made a big positive impact on sport cars drivers, curved doors, and roadsters were the real style of sport cars.

Jaguar made its reputation in the Le Mans race course by a car that had been showed in 1954, D-TYPE, which was 3.4liters, 245 horsepower. The initial production was considered extremely fast. Moreover, it was empowered by making it 270 horsepower for racing, and that made it three-years-in-a-row champion in 1955-1957. There would not be anyone who would not wish the dignity of Le Mans’ championship sport cars which later was extended to 3.8liters, 306 horsepower. It competed in United States and made so big impact on sport cars guru that made a newer model to drive in a street.

The manufacturer decided to make them sport series, and not involved with normal cars except the engines and systems used together in order to reduce the cost of production. Therefore, E-TYPE Jaguar was influenced by XK series and D-TYPE. It was officially debuted in 1961, taking over XK 150, and completing the new full sport style, which was the long front and short end according to the classic style sport cars.

The appearance of E-TYPE is brilliant like Italian sport cars. At the beginning, it had been decided to name as XK-E, but eventually was E-TYPE, which seemed more okay and newer than old XK series that had been used for many models. It had been decided to be 3.8liters, twin cam, then later on extended to be 4.2liters in order to make it right for the size of the cars. The 3.8 liters one had been eventually stopped, until 1971 it was given a new 5.3liters, V12 engine in order to be an alternative choice for customers who were interested in pretty big block. The 4.2liters one’s production was terminated in 1974.

If you would like to own this model, you may need to consider if you are a millionaire or not because this kind of classic cars cannot be found at any car dealers. If you would really want it, you should check it out from a catalogue of car auctioning company. You might be that lucky that someone would sell it.

Jaguar XK : The English Lineage Sport Car

Previous Jaguar XK, which was produced in 1996 and terminated in June of 2005, is considered a good selling sport car in the previous time. It is quite a challenge of new XK that the design and automotive engineering must be better than the old one. New XK improves the progress in automotive engineering very much and is more than Jaguar’s expectation in the production of sport cars. It is because its development in aluminum body, transmission system, modern and luxury inner design. Debut a new Jaguar XK, which is fully improved in design, engineering, and thrust, is considered an extreme excitement.

New Jaguar XK was debuted in the beginning of 2006, and it showed the leadership of light-weighted automobile technology and still stayed beauty. A quality production of new XK will show the performance, luxury, and Jaguar design.

New XK is categorized in large-sized luxury sport car. Its market has high rate of growth and competition. During 1996-2006, sport cars market around the world has been growing over 200 percent, from 48,000 to 99,000 cars, as well as the quantity of competitors, from 4 to 7. It is predicted that in the next 5 years, there will be at least 8 competitors.

Generally, there are 2 main groups in large-sized luxury sport cars, which are Grand Tourers, high class luxury and comfortable one, and Overtly Sporty Cars, great performance and control. For XK, the significant property that draws both kinds of customers is the luxury sport cars and has great performance and control. In the past, when customers were going to buy one, they would have to consider which kind of sport cars they would really want, between luxury and comfortable or a great control.

New XK can interest customers who want a luxury car. That means they are looking for Grand Tourers that indicates wealth and extra but still sport, or in other words, luxury in sport style.

New XK has an incredible appearance which shows Jaguar-ness and high performance. Furthermore, customers will see the inner design which is very well-blended. Everything will focus on the driver. For instance, high quality materials, color tone, and many technologies play a part in comforting the drivers which makes the cars their highest performance.

The modern technology will help produce customers’ driving experience and get their hearts. For example, an automatic reverse variation speed controlling and touch screen display in center console. We can say that new XK is the best sport car that can very well satisfy the customers in both sport style and luxury.

Jeep And Chrysler Doing Well Across The Pond

Chrysler may be feeling some pain in the USA, but overseas they are realizing some excellent results. According to a Chrysler spokesperson, international sales are up 14 percent through August of 2006 with 15 straight months of month-to-month increases. The news is even better in Western Europe. Chrysler reported an increase of 35.6% in August 2006 compared with the performance from a year ago, and a sales increase of 15.5% for the year-to-date through August 2006. According to JATO Dynamics, a market information company, Jeep sales were up 25% in Europe through August compared to 2005, much of the increase due to the excellent performances of the new Grand Cherokee and Commander. These impressive sales results have made Chrysler the second fastest growing automotive group in Europe, second only to Fiat, and Chrysler predicts that international sales will account for 9% of total sales by 2007.

Looking at the sales numbers it's easy to see why the folks at Chrysler were excited about the unveiling of their production version of the two-door Jeep Wrangler and four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited for the first time in Europe at the recently held Paris Motor Show. The Paris Motor Show is a major event that is held every two years. It is a trend-setting showcase for the automotive industry around the world and it attracts participants from all corners of the globe. The newly demo’ed Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models are powered by a new 2.8 liter diesel engine and feature a broad array of new off-road features. They will hit European dealer showrooms around April of 2006, and Chrysler feels they’ll be a big hit. Why shouldn’t we believe them? They seem to have an excellent grasp on the European market at the moment.

It is good that Chrysler, an American car manufacturer, and Jeep are making themselves known around the world and realizing some excellent results. Now if only we could get our hands on those diesel powered Wranglers here in the good ole’ USA. Then we all might be happy!

Jump Starters Or Jumper Cables?

It’s something that has happened to all of us no matter how careful we are. Simply leaving the lights on when you park your car is enough to make the charge drain completely from the battery, and leave it unable to start when you come back to it. Whether you have left your car on the driveway or in the supermarket car park, a dead battery means the same – you’re going nowhere. Thankfully, most people are sensible enough to have a set jumper cables or a jump starter in their car at all times, and this means that under circumstances where your battery is flat you can always get a charge to get the motor running from another motorist.

In the most simple of applications, a jump starter works by attaching a back up battery onto the electric starter of your car, and using the charge from the jump starter to get the initial spark into your engine to allow it to start when your battery is completely discharged.

In the past, many people relied on a simpler method of using a pair of wires with a crocodile clip at either end and attaching them to the battery of another car, but in the modern world, when you cannot rely on being able to find someone to help you, and even then, cannot guarantee that the power supply on their engine is compatible with yours, you really need a dedicated jump starter on hand to guarantee that you can get your motor running in an emergency. As a result, you typically need to spend a little more than previously on jump starters, but at least the latest models add some functionality, and are robust enough to last for years.

You can get a basic jump starter from as little as $70 from Red Hill Supply, and have a device that you can rely on in an emergency to give you a boost from another car in order to get your’s started. Even basic jump starters include a few extra features, and for less than $80 you can get your hands on a convenient mini jump starter that also incorporates a flashlight and will boost a charge into a 12 volt battery system and get you back on the road.

By investing a little more in a jump starter, you can get plenty of added value in the form of extended functions. For a little more than $240 you can get yourself a jump starter that will give a charge to a 12-volt system. The 12-V Jump and Carry has a 2000 Amp peak flow of charge, and can also double as a trickle charger to top up your battery overnight. The Jump n Carry attaches directly onto the battery of your car, and includes a monitor dial to let you know how much of your charge you have.

More advanced models such as the K&K Jumpstart offer the flexibility of providing a charge to either a 12 or 24 volt system, so you only need one unit for two separate cars. They have the power to get the car started in an emergency, whatever your engine.

At the top end of the range of jump starters, there are advanced trolley mounted systems that are designed to provide a heavy duty and reliable power supply for the work shop. Such models will generally offer enough charge to get up to 50 or more cars started on a single charge, as well as providing an almost unlimited charging capability when connected to a mains supply.

Just What Are Thee Flexi-fuel Logos I Am Seeing On Brand New Cars

You may have well noticed logos on new cars and trucks of “Flexifuel” or “Flexi-fuel”. You may have well wondered what this innovation is. Is something to increase fuel efficiency? Is it a means of being able to use regular gasoline instead of high premium test? The automobile industry has a well deserved record of relaunching and repackaging old products as new and simply applying chrome and simple modifications to previous models and technologies and selling them as new products and innovations.

Flexifuel is new. A Flexifuel vehicle is a flexible-fuel vehicle (FFV) or a dual-fuel vehicle. Flexi fuel vehicles may also be called flex-fuel as well. The Flexi fuel vehicles that you are seeing on American roads are designed to run on ethanol (a type of alcohol), gasoline or any mixture of both. Cars made previously to 1980 can not tolerate any ethanol at all. The ethanol played havoc with those cars rubber seals, aluminum and other components of those car models. Cars made after 1980 onwards could tolerate and run on gasohol – a 10 % mixture of ethanol mixed with 90 % ethanol.

What makes Flexfuel cars different is that they can run on gasoline or ethanol alcohol gasoline percentages up to 85 % ethanol. That combination of 85 % ethanol with alcohol is commercially sold and referred to as E85 fuel. No damage of any kind is done to cars certified with the Flexfuel certification when they run ethanol / gasoline combinations or straight gasoline. Further the owner can switch back and forth without skipping a beat. .

Flexi fuel cars have been used for a number of years in Brazil. Since the 1980’s and the energy crisis Brazil built up a substantial ethanol industry in tandem with its sugar cane production. As a result of Flex-fuel automobiles Brazil has substantially reduced its dependence on costly foreign imported oil. In the United States we take foreign currency for granted. American dollars a standard in the world. Everyone wants American dollars. However I most of the world foreign currency is a country’s most precious commodity. Without foreign currency – be it dollars , Japanese Yen or The European Union’s Euro a county can not buy essential items to improve their economy and feed their people – whether it be factory tools , tractors, computers or the money to send their students abroad to learn new procedures to improve their society. As a result of Flexi-fuel gas / ethanol cars Brazil has reduced its dependency on foreign imported oil and saved much precious foreign currencies.

Motorists choose their type and grade of fuel depending on availability or cost or a combination of all the above. Gasoline can be used by Flex-fuel cars. So can 10 % Gasohol. . Ethanol / Gasoline fuels can be used all the way up to 85 % ethanol mixed with 15 % gasoline.

There are some disadvantages to Flex-fuel though. Because the Flexi-fuel engine has to be all things to all kinds of fuel the Flex-fuel vehicle may not be as fuel efficient as a regular gasoline single fuel engine. Secondly ethanol’s higher volatility means that ethanol mixed with gasoline may actually increase smog which is not a good idea in large urban areas or in areas such as California which rely on a large amount of vehicles with much driving in an automobile culture.

However there are often tax advantages and credits both directly for using ethanol based fuels both for the motorist and the car manufactures in their fleets.

There are currently more than an estimated 4 million flexible-fuel vehicles currently being operated on American roads. Most of the owner’s of these vehicles have no idea of the capabilities of their engines to accept ethanol based fuels. In the last number of years many cars had the term Flexi-fuel without even the dealer never mind car owners even knowing what the term meant. Less expensive ethanol based fuels are not readily available throughout America. Time and the price and availability of gasoline at the pump for American motorists will change their preferences for Ethanol and Flexi-fuel.

Keep Safe On Holiday, Learn 112 Not 999

GEM Motoring Assist (GEM), which is concerned for the safety of all road users, says that even mundane basics like knowing the single European emergency call number of 112 goes unheeded by UK drivers travelling abroad.

“The European Emergency Number Association established 112 as the EU wide emergency number more than a decade a go,” said David Williams, Chief Executive of GEM, “But it is far from common knowledge among UK citizens who think 999 will work everywhere.

“More than 100 million Europeans travel between EU countries every year and they cannot be expected to know or remember the emergency number of every member state. That is why learning 112 is so important. Using it could save at least 5,000 lives around Europe every year.”

To help confident driving when on holiday or business abroad GEM has produced a handy glove-box-sized guide called Your Introduction to Driving in Europe that is available free of charge as part of GEM’s road safety charity work.

Apart from general guidance and preparing your vehicle before you travel it deals with what to do if things go wrong and gives a simple country by country guide to rules and regulations that apply in different nations. In Germany for instance it is an offence to make rude signs to other road users and an offence to run out of fuel on a motorway. However carrying a petrol can in a vehicle in Greece is forbidden. In Spain and Switzerland if you wear glasses for driving you must carry a spare pair in the car. In Norway there is zero tolerance for drinking and driving and on hilly roads vehicles travelling down hill have priority.

Your Introduction to Driving in Europe is available free from GEM. To receive a copy call 01342 825676 or write to GEM Motoring Assist at Station Road, Forest Row, East Sussex, RH18 5EN
